{"id":6304,"date":"2023-09-22T19:44:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T19:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/really.zonky.org\/?p=6304"},"modified":"2023-09-22T19:44:17","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T19:44:17","slug":"would-a-meat-tax-be-a-good-idea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/really.zonky.org\/?p=6304","title":{"rendered":"Would A Meat Tax Be A Good Idea?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Now that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rishi_Sunak\">Sunak<\/a> has reversed a policy that didn&#8217;t exist in the first place &#8211; taxing meat &#8211; the question is whether it would be a good idea or not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can already hear the howls of protest from meat eaters, but bear with me &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly there are all sorts of good reasons to discourage meat eating &#8211; environmental reasons and health reasons chief amongst them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secondly we should encourage the occasional consumption of high quality meat rather than constant consumption of low quality meat.
