Then I got real, and realised that the application was already written and allowed fancy formatting of the help file(s) &#8211; it&#39;s called a browser.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 14.4444437026978px;\">Now for a whole bunch of reasons, you probably don&#39;t want to use a full blown browser, but something a little simpler and without any fancy controls, and I plumped for&nbsp;<\/span><em style=\"line-height: 14.4444437026978px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dillo.org\/\">dillo<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/em><span style=\"line-height: 14.4444437026978px;\">Turns out that the &quot;-f&quot; flag turns off the fancy menu and toolbar, so what I needed was to persuade my window manager (<a href=\"http:\/\/awesome.naquadah.org\/\">Awesome<\/a>) to run it when I pressed &quot;Help&quot; :-<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<pre>\r\n\tawful.key({ }, &quot;Help&quot;, function () awful.util.spawn(&quot;dillo -f \/home\/mike\/lib\/help-files\/index.html&quot;) end))\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>\n\tIf you need help adding that to your Awesome configuration file, you&#39;re in the wrong place!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnd of course it works :-\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/really.zonky.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015-03-07_1457.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"2015-03-07_1457\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3647\" height=\"530\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/really.zonky.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015-03-07_1457.png?resize=695%2C530\" width=\"695\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/really.zonky.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015-03-07_1457.png?w=781&amp;ssl=1 781w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/really.zonky.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015-03-07_1457.png?resize=300%2C229&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t(And now of course I need to spend some time writing some help files!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So there I was, wandering down the street thinking about :- Sometimes being unable to remember custom key sequences that I&#39;ve configured.
